Size Guide

Finding the right fit for a retro football shirt can be tricky — especially as sizes vary hugely between brands, seasons and shirt manufacturers. To make sure you get the most accurate information, every product on RetroShirts.com includes its own individual size guide.

Where to Find the Correct Size

The size guide for each shirt is displayed directly on the product page, and includes:

  • Exact measurements for that specific item
  • Fit notes (e.g. tight 90s fit, modern relaxed fit, player issue vs. fan version)
  • Details on whether the shirt is true to size, comes up small, or comes up large

Why We Don’t Use a Universal Size Chart

Retro shirts aren’t standardised. Different:

  • Clubs
  • National teams
  • Seasons
  • Manufacturers
  • Authentic vs. remake versions

…all come with their own sizing quirks. Using one generic chart would be unreliable — and we want you to get the right fit first time.

Tips for Choosing Your Size

  • Always check the product-specific measurements on the product page before ordering.
  • If you’re between sizes, consider whether you prefer a relaxed or more fitted look.
  • Remember that older retro shirts (80s/90s) often run smaller.
  • Modern remakes and reissues usually follow more standard sizing, but can still vary by brand.
